Course examination

Final examination

A defensible station is not one number. It is a chain of compatible evidence.Head, Loss and Lift

F.1The review envelope

This final follows one parcel of water from the source boundary, through losses and a pump, into the force main and the details that keep the station operable. It samples every module and rewards consistent reasoning over memorised thresholds.

How to use the result

Grade once without notes. Read every explanation, then repeat with the course and your own calculation sheet open. The second pass should be slower and easier to audit.

F.2What a passing method looks like

A passing method preserves boundary conditions, head units and flow basis; separates universal physics from local or manufacturer criteria; checks the full operating envelope; and leaves a reviewer enough evidence to reproduce the conclusion.

  • Trace the hydraulic boundary before adding losses.
  • Construct system and pump evidence for credible conditions, not one nominal point.
  • Check NPSH, allowable operating region, solids, surge, controls and loss of power as linked constraints.
  • State what would need confirmation in the governing standard or manufacturer submittal.

The final answer is the evidence chain.
